Elemental Rituals: SPRING EQUINOX RETREAT
Infused with mysticism, myth and a spirituality that seeps into your pores the moment you breathe in the woodland air, St Nectan’s Glen is pure MAGIC. Buried on the very edge of the north Cornish coast in the lands where Camelot is said to have stood, this incredible natural treasure literally radiates ancient wisdom. For many, a visit to St Nectan’s is a sacred, spiritual pilgrimage, so we are beyond lucky not only to be able to stay in the woodland, but also to be able to access the entire site privately for large chunks of our time together.
We’ll share three full sonic experiences over the weekend, each one varying in flavour and essence. Over three days we’ll explore the resonant magic of Himalayan and crystal bowls, the power of the mighty gongs, and the transcendental, elemental journeying of shamanic drums and percussion. Sound creates a deep space for personal reflection, meditation and relaxation, and can also be a powerful therapy for many conditions and experiences. We’ll explore these together, with 1:1 options available if you’d like to go deeper on your personal journey.
During the weekend we’ll enjoy a daily energising yoga class to uplift and exhilarate. I teach a vast range of yoga methods and styles from Rocket to Hatha Vinyasa, but my fundamental practice is a strong, spiritual flow inspired by the prevailing lunar and planetary activity. We can dial these cosmic classes up or down depending on the group energy, and there are always options for all levels and all bodies. We will also receive a blissful, rejuvenating yin workshop with the divine Anna Curnock - @kernowfornia_yogi
The beautiful Kirsty Wright @oilsfrommothernature will hold space to share her expertise in the alchemy of natural oils. Including guidance on many creative and imaginative uses for essential oils, we’ll forage the woodland for inspiration before Kirsty leads the circle through creating a custom blend, inspired by the elements.
SPELLS FROM NATURE
My signature workshop draws together aspects of shamanic ritual, Wiccan ceremony, oracle divination, and earth alchemy, and blends them together with the prevailing elemental energy - amplified with each phase of the moon. The session includes introductions to oracle spreads, choosing and using crystals, and sourcing herbs and natural ingredients for your grid/mandala. Together we’ll share our ceremonial ideas and instincts to create a group ritual to honour the equinox.
We’ve planned a gorgeous ceremony to welcome the equinox right at the foot of the spectacular 60 foot waterfall, and there will be nightly fireside gatherings on the cliff at the top of the woods where we’ll share cacao and brush up on our stargazing. We’ve carved out time for you to explore the ancient woodland in solitude, taking time to reflect, meditate, journal and relax.
Our delicious eats for the weekend are organic, plant based and feature locally sourced ingredients. Cornwall’s rich agricultural land provides wonderful produce and we’ll be making the most of the seasonal offer with nutritious rainbow salads, fresh soups and delectable vegetable dinners. We’ll whip up breakfast and juices together in the mornings and there will be smoothie ingredients and plenty of delicious bliss balls on hand for daytime pick-me-ups. The weekend will be vegan, and predominantly gluten free. Any dietary requirements can be met as long as we have advance notice. We’re also super lucky that the talented @viviennejlevick will be supplying us with her unreal raw vegan baking as part of our Saturday afternoon workshop.
We’ll be staying together in a newly built cabin nestled in the tree canopy at the top of the valley, and surrounded by the sound of sacred waterfalls. All accommodation is shared, with 2, 3 and 4 dorm options. The comfy open-plan living area has a lovely big communal table for sharing meals, a wood burning fire and plenty of snuggly spots to cosy up, and outside there is a peaceful Quiet Zen garden area to enjoy the view over the treetops. To encourage contemplation and relaxation there is a digital-free policy at the cabin, and you’ll find very little phone signal there, which we hope is a positive aspect
